The Human Services department promotes individual and community well-being by increasing self-sufficiency, reducing the negative impacts of adverse life events, and helping people achieve their full potential.  Areas of focus include basic needs, such as food and affordable housing, and behavioral health services. 

The City's roles include:  building supportive relationships with community groups, convening regional partnerships, and leveraging resources. 

Key values and principles to guide this work include supporting culturally and linguistically appropriate services; inclusive and anti-racist approaches; and prioritizing those most negatively affected by institutional and systemic barriers.
