Shoreline's Park Maintenance Team acts as stewards for the City’s parks, open spaces, and athletic fields including the preservation of natural areas and the enhancement of quality parks. Our goal is to create safe recreational and educational opportunities for the well-being and enjoyment of the public.

The Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division is responsible for the following parks and facilities:

  • 42 parks
  • 14 restrooms (3 sanicans)
  • 17 playgrounds
  • 15 baseball fields
  • 10 soccer fields
  • 15 tennis courts
  • 5 picnic shelters
  • Kruckeberg Botanic Garden
  • Two Community Gardens with over 70 plots 
  • Two recreation centers: Richmond Highlands and Spartan Gym
  • Many miles of forested trails
  • The Interurban Trail

To maintain the City’s parks, we use various resources, including:

  • 10 full-time Park Maintenance Team staff
  • Annual professional services contracts 
  • Numerous volunteers

To keep our Parks system running smoothly the Parks Maintenance team is responsible for the following:

  • Litter removal
  • Drainage and irrigation repair
  • Tree care
  • Carpentry
  • Welding
  • Athletic field preparation
  • A wide variety of construction projects and park upgrades
  • Assisting recreation and citizen groups with special events and projects
