February is Black History Month.
Here are opportunities to celebrate in Shoreline.
Exhibit at Spartan Recreation Center
Celebrate Black History and Joy by visiting Spartan Recreation Center for an exhibit of local art by Black artists, cultural sharing, history, and resources. The exhibit will remain through the end of March. Spartan Recreation Center is located at 202 NE 185th Street and is open Mondays-Thursdays 7AM - 8PM, Fridays 7AM - 5PM, and Saturdays 8AM-3PM. Masks and proof of vaccination or a negative test are required to enter the building.
Black Joy Celebration, in partnership with the City of Shoreline & JHP, Saturdays, February 19 and 26, 1:30 – 3 pm
Black Coffee Northwest, 16743 Aurora Avenue North
Join us for a celebration of Black joy in our community. There will be music provided by JHP Legacy, delicious cultural food, a traditional coffee ceremony, local art, and a fashion show.
REMINDER: CityWise 2022 Applications Are Due by Friday, February 18
Have you ever wondered who maintains our roads? Or how the City creates a budget or plans for the future of our parks? The City is offering its popular CityWise Project online in 2022. This series of 9 informational sessions will provide participants an overview of City government and operations. CityWise is free of charge, and open to residents, employees, business owners, and students age 16 and older in Shoreline.
