Dan Friday is featured in the traveling exhibition "Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass." He describes glass as "a medium that will survive millennia, a great way to tell a story to future generations. It is, metaphorically, a contemporary painting on the cave wall." A renowned glass artist, Lummi tribal member, and Season 3 contestant on Netflix’s "Blown Away," Friday has spent over 20 years working with pioneering artists such as Dale Chihuly, Paul Marioni, and Preston Singletary. He has taught at the University of Washington, Pilchuck Glass School, and Haystack Craft Center, and completed residencies at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, the Burke Museum in Seattle, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and the Dream Community in Taipei, Taiwan. A recipient of the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) Discovery Fellowship, Friday blends his Lummi (Coast Salish) heritage with contemporary glass art. His first solo museum exhibition, "Future Artifacts," drew thousands to the Museum of Northwest Art in 2021-2022. His work is represented by galleries across the U.S. and is increasingly sought by collectors.
