Panelists include:
Adetola Abatan (PhD/MFA) is an artist, drummer, engineer, and Public Arts Manager with ArtsWA. She is responsible for placing art in public schools, colleges, universities, and state agencies. Abatan creates and places visual art that reframes history. Her artwork has been featured in the 2021 Seattle Deconstructed Art Fair at Wa Na Wari and "After the Quiet: On Black Figures and Folds," among other exhibitions.
Mylinda Sneed: Public Art Coordinator for Shoreline, WA, manages exhibits, residencies, public art commissions, and artwork maintenance. At Sound Transit, she integrated art into transit facilities in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. Her roles with Phinney Neighborhood Association and Fremont Arts Council highlighted her dedication to artists and public engagement. Mylinda is passionate about helping artists with public art projects, community collaborations, and career development.
Sara Everett, a local painter and printmaker, also consults as a Real Estate Art Manager, where she leads her corporate clients from start to finish—from the initial vision of real estate developers through the RFQ process to the final installation of artwork. Alongside her art practice and consulting, she actively contributes to the arts community by serving on the Board of Directors for Seattle's Uptown Arts District.
Jennifer Shelton: Jennifer brings over 20 years’ experience as a technical assistance advisor and first-hand experience as a small business owner to her work with SBDC clients. She enjoys helping business owners/managers create solutions that work for them. Areas of focus in her advising include leadership development, cash flow forecasting, financial analysis, increasing profitability, buying a business, marketing strategies, engaging employees, business plan development, and obtaining financing.
Kait Rhoads: Rhoads creates glass sculptures, limited edition jewelry, and public artworks that reflect her relationship to the ocean and its ecosystems. Winning numerous awards and residencies, including a Fulbright Scholarship to Venice, Italy, Rhoads' sculptures have captured audiences worldwide, including Pacific Seas Aquarium, Museum of Northwest Art, City of Shoreline, the Seattle Art Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Museum of Northwest Art.
Moderator / Jodie Nelson: Putting artists & culture makers on the map since 1998. A fine art veteran with 25 years of experience, she is an artist mentor, museum curator, and host of Female Frequency Podcast. Her mission is to challenge the status quo and eliminate gatekeeping boundaries in the art industry for all creatives. Nelson's projects have been featured in Art in America, The New York Times, PBS, Seattle Times, Forbes, Hyperallergic, Culture Trip, NPR, Refract, and Earth Creative.
