Welcoming Week - Looking Through Cultural Lenses Workshop

Welcoming Week Workshop:  Looking Through Cultural Lenses

What do you see?

How do we form connections with others who do not share our same experiences, perspectives, or view of the world? How do we get over the awkwardness of trying to grow new relationships in the workplace and with our neighbors?

In this workshop, participants will be inspired to deepen conversations, find common ground, and appreciate the rich diversity of our community through hearing about personal stories and real-life experiences.

Hearing personal stories and about the “lived experiences” of others is impactful and widens a person’s personal lens. A popular saying is “we don’t know what we don’t know.”  Acquiring knowledge and interacting with others ignites the desire to better understand how our lives intersect.

Topics addressed:

  • What influences affect how we see our world?
  • How do you widen the personal lens?
  • How to begin those awkward conversations
  • How to nurture and grow our relationships
  • Finding common ground

Presented by Jolene Jang, Asian Inclusivity Consultant and Culture Explorer and Kevin Henry, Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Consultant.

Wednesday, September 14, 6:00pm-7:30pm on Zoom.  Register on zoom for workshop link.
