Each year, the City of Shoreline offers a limited number of rebates to help property owners recreate their yards into environmentally friendly and low-maintenance rain gardens or native vegetation landscapes. These gardens protect local waters, support native birds and pollinators, and can help resolve drainage issues on private property. If you’d like to give your yard a more “Pacific Northwest” feel, a rain garden or native vegetation landscaping may be perfect for you!
This year, we’re offering an online workshop to help property owners learn how to design, build, and maintain these gardens – the introductory workshop will include:
- Overview of rain gardens and native vegetation landscaping
- Introduction to Soak It Up Rebate Program
- Garden design including siting, shaping, and sizing gardens, selecting and transplanting plants
- Garden construction
- Garden maintenance
- Estimating costs
