Volunteer at the Food Bank Gardens
Every year since 2012, volunteers at Twin Ponds and Sunset Community Gardens have worked together to plant, grow, harvest and deliver upwards of 4,000 pounds of fresh organic produce to local food banks. This produce goes directly to members of the local community affected by food insecurity.
VOLUNTEER NEEDS
- Typical volunteer duties including planting, watering, harvesting and delivery of produce. There is also opportunity to help with fundraising, supply gathering, garden planning and organizing volunteer events.
- All ages of volunteer welcome. Youth volunteers will need a parent signed volunteer service contract and may be asked to be accompanied by their parent (if they are particularly young).
- We welcome youth volunteers needing to fulfill school volunteer requirements, so long as they can volunteer during our regularly scheduled meetup days and times. (see schedules below)
- We currently DO NOT manage court ordered community service volunteers.
VOLUNTEER SCHEDULES
- Twin Ponds Park Gardens - Twin Ponds volunteers manage 1,500 sq.ft. of garden beds. Volunteers meet as a group on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-Noon. During spring and summer, there is the opportunity to organize and lead volunteer meetups on weekends as well to help manage the large amount of produce grown at this location.
