The Shoreline City Council meets on the first four Mondays each month in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall. All City Council meetings are open to the public and governed by a state law called "The Open Public Meetings Act" (RCW 42.32). At a public meeting, anyone may attend the meeting and observe. For further rules governing City Council meetings, review the Council Rules of Procedure.

Shoreline City Council meetings also provide time for Public Comment and occasionally community presentations are featured. When needed, the City Council holds Public Hearings, hears Quasi-Judicial Items and deliberates in Executive Session

Types of Meetings
The City Council discusses issues at Study Sessions which are held on the first and third Mondays of each month starting at 7:00 p.m. Many of these issues will come back to the City Council for action at a later date. Business Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. The City Council takes formal action at these meetings, such as approving contracts, awarding bids or passing ordinances. The City Council also holds Workshop Dinner Meetings at 5:45 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. These are informal meetings for the purpose of meeting with other governmental agencies or officials.

Council meetings are wheelchair accessible, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities are available upon request by calling the City Clerk's Office at (206) 801-2231 at least 48 hours before the meeting. TTY service is available at (206) 546-0457.
